Best of Scotland

A Mother/Daughter Adventure

Growing up in the south in the 70's, my family had no concept of traveling to Europe. If you couldn't reach a destination by car, we didn't go there. As an adult I lived in many different parts of the United States, and still never left North America. I wanted to travel more, but never found the time. In 2014 my husband and I moved to Seattle. I learned that Rick Steves wasn't just a guy with a show on PBS, he lived in my area! People I knew had taken his tours and loved them. I decided that a mother/daughter adventure was a great start to a new phase of life. Emily was more than willing, so in May 2017, we left to visit Europe for the first time for each of us! After a brief stop in London, we began our Rick Steves tour to see the best sights that Scotland had to offer. It was an amazing trip!

After living halfway across the country from my family for several years, I made the decision to move to Seattle to be closer to my parents. Shortly after the move my mom suggested that we take a mother/daughter trip! I was thrilled with the idea and knew we would have a great time together. Once we knew we wanted to go to Europe we had no trouble deciding that a Rick Steves tour was the way to go. Since neither of us had ever travelled to Europe before we wanted to take the stress out of planning and let the experts show us the best trip possible. Now months after the trip has ended I still know that we made absolutely the right decision! We were able to relax and enjoy every moment of the trip without worrying about any of the details, and sharing this experience of our first visit to Europe brought my mom and I even closer together.
